How to encourage your child's independence?
This course on "Encouraging Independence" aims to instill parents confidence in their children's independence. The course provides parents with practical advice in how to support it and presents solutions to challenges you may encounter.
Independence is an important way to build self-identity, self-esteem and confidence in children. It also allows children to feel a sense of control in times of stress, change and uncertainty. Based on our pedagogical approach, you gain insights on:
- Why is independence so important?
- How to apply to different ages?
- How to deal with different emotions of your child?
First, we will look at the most recent research findings on the importance of children's independence. Then, we will illustrate with daily examples what tools parents can use for supporting their child's development. Finally, we will discuss how a growing independence may affect your child's emotions and as how you as a parent can deal with it.

- The course is held by international Paedagogical Coach Tanja Vrede.
- Small group of up to 16 attendees.
- Course language is English.
The course is for all parents (expectant, first-time, more-time) - Akidemy clients and non-clients.
Public transport:
From Zürich HB with the S4 in the direction of Langnau-Gattikon to Sood-Oberleimbach or Adliswil.
Car:
There is a parking garage in the building which can be used.
Costs for the 2-hour course:
CHF 20.00 for clients of the Akidemy Day Cares
CHF 30.00 for all other parents (non-clients of Akidemy)

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations have to be submitted in writing by email. The following fees arise in case of a course cancellation and depend on the reception of the course cancellation: ·
- up to 30 days prior to course date: CHF 10 (administrative fee)
- up to 15 days prior to course date: 50% of course fee
- up to 1 week prior to course date: 75% of course fee
- during week prior to course date and no-show: 100% of course fee
