Raising a Multilingual Child
This course on "Multilingual Parenting" aims to instill parents confidence in their children's ability to learn two or more languages. It provides you with practical advice in how to support it and presents solutions to challenges you may encounter.
How to lovingly communicate with your child and support its language development?
Being multilingual is an opportunity for both you and your child. Based on the pedagogical approach of Emmi Pikler and Reggio-Emilia, you gain insights on:
- how to lovingly communicate with your child
- how to support your child's language development
- how to deal with your child's emotions
First, we will look at the most recent research findings on communication and language development in a multilingual context. Then, we will illustrate with daily examples what tools parents can use for supporting their child's language development. Finally, we will discuss how being multilingual may affect your child's emotions and as how you as a parent can deal with it.

- The course is held by international Paedagogical Coach Penny Tan.
- Small group of up to 16 attendees.
- Course language is English.
The course is for all parents (expectant, first-time, more-time) - Akidemy clients and non-clients - primarily living in the surrounding of Zurich-Rigiplatz.
Costs for the 2-hour course:
CHF 20.00 for clients of the Akidemy Day Cares
CHF 30.00 for all other parents (non-clients of Akidemy Rigiplatz)

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations have to be submitted in writing by email. The following fees arise in case of a course cancellation and depend on the reception of the course cancellation: ·
- up to 30 days prior to course date: CHF 10 (administrative fee)
- up to 15 days prior to course date: 50% of course fee
- up to 1 week prior to course date: 75% of course fee
- during week prior to course date and no-show: 100% of course fee
